Edgar Degas

Edgar Degas(1834-1917), preferred painting in an art studio, which was unusual for the Impressionists of that time. The entertainment world especially intrigued Degas and shows up often in his works throughout his life.

Degas's oil paintings reveal his fascination with the beauty and sophistication of the ballet. Unlike other Impressionists of that time he preferred painting in an art studio which was unusual. He would sketch his subjects where he found them and return to his studio to capture them on canvas.
