Franz Marc

A German painter and printmaker, Franz Marc made a lot of prints in woodcut and lithography, and used a lot of primary colors to display emotions. He was a founder of Der Blaue Reiter, a journal that eventually became synonymous with a group of Russian and German artists. He began his career by attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He then spent much time in Paris visiting museums and developing his painting technique. His love of animals and his belief that they were innocent creatures encouraged him to paint them in their natural state. Some of his most famous works include The Fox, The Dream, The Red Deer, Fate of the Animals and Deer in the Forest among many others.
